The Nassington Village History Project.
Well, I'm delighted to welcome you to the Nassington Village History Project website but where have you been all this time? I bet your first question is 'what's with all the lovely pictures'? Glorious aren't they and all created, from memory I might add, by a lady who lived in Nassington as a mere slip of a girl. Each and every one is a little doorway to a story or a tale so how, I hear you cry, do I unlock that metaphorical door? Glad you asked. A couple of ways actually...
-
Start at the Station House at the bottom of the village
-
Click on the BLUE PLAQUE ROUTE link above
-
While away a couple of hours learning about all of our history and village tales. It'll take a couple of hours but, hey, there are pubs and tea rooms along the way...
OR
-
Drop in at the Village Hall on Church Street on a Monday 10:30 - 13:30 pm to look at our archive.
-
Click on the HISTORY link above but that's the merest tip of the iceberg and you won't get to enjoy a cuppa and a biscuit let alone a chat with us now will you?
OR
-
Come to a talk in the Village Hall (there are about four a year, five if you're lucky)
-
Check what's on in the UPCOMING EVENTS section below, just scroll down, there's more pictures too
So, as you can see, we're not just organised and friendly but a busy old bunch too. Talks in Nassington cover a range of local topics and include general and social history, some delivered by history professionals in their field, others by local experts. Each talk is accompanied by a written account of the research done and you can find these under the TALES tab above. Unless otherwise stated entrance is free of charge and open to all but we do reserve the right to cancel or refuse entry if appropriate. We have also hosted tours of the village so get in touch if you would like to arrange something for a group.
So, whether to walk the Blue Route Walk, look in the archive, drop by for a chat or attend a talk or event we hope to see you soon!
(This online project first began in 2019 and is hosted by the Nassington Parish Council. We benefitted enormously from the transfer of information curated by the Willowbrook History Society and have augmented this considerably over recent months with photographs, data and personal recollections which have been documented and archived).
